Repair Synchronization Options

Overview

A synchronization task may result in errors in the form of missing or damaged messages. This article describes how to process a Repair Synchronization depending on the nature of the issue.

 

Environment

Pivotal Syncstream 5.X, 6.X

 

Process

Repair Synchronization has two options as shown in the table below:

Option Description
Local DSM If the parent DSM (Data Synchronization Manager) server cannot process a message from the child system, run a Local DSM Repair Synchronization for the parent system on the parent DSM server.
Remote DSM If a child DSM server or mobile system cannot process a message from the parent system, run a Remote DSM Repair Synchronization for the child system on the parent DSM server.

 

 

Steps to repair synchronization locally for the parent DSM server:

  1. On the administrative computer of the parent system, start the Pivotal Administration Console.
  2. In the Servers pane, expand Data Synchronization, and then expand the registered DSM server until the name of the parent system is displayed.
  3. Right-click the parent system name, and then click Connect.
  4. Right-click the user name of the DSM of the child system in the Users pane, point to Repair Synchronization and then click Local DSM.
  5. A warning message is displayed. Click Yes to proceed.
  6. When the process is complete, the number of skipped messages is displayed.
  7. Click OK.

Steps to repair synchronization remotely for the child DSM server:

  1. On the administrative computer of the parent system, start the Pivotal Administration Console.
  2. In the Servers pane, expand Data Synchronization, and then expand the registered DSM server until the name of the parent system is displayed.
  3. Right-click the parent system name, and then click Connect.
  4. Right-click the user name of the DSM of the child system in the Users pane, point to Repair Synchronization and then click Remote DSM.
  5. A warning message is displayed. Click Yes to proceed.
  6. When the process is complete, a confirmation that the message was sent to the remote DSM is displayed.
  7. Click OK.

Steps to repair synchronization locally for the child DSM server:

  1. On the administrative computer of the child system, or on the mobile computer, start the Pivotal Administration Console.
  2. In the Servers pane, expand Data Synchronization, and then expand the registered mobile DSM server until the name of the child system is displayed.
  3. Right-click the child system name, and then click Connect.
  4. Right-click the user name of the child DSM in the Users pane, point to Repair Synchronization and then click Local DSM.
  5. A warning message is displayed. Click Yes to proceed.
  6. When the process is complete, the number of skipped messages is displayed.
  7. Click OK.
